MILAN DAMEK'S SKI MOUNTAINEERING WEEKEND HAS GOLDEN SUCCESS

The Skialp Koruna Beskyd (the Ski Mountaineering Crown of the Beskid Mountains) series continued on Saturday with a final race called the Montura skialp Marathon. The organizers had prepared a 26 km trail with a superelevation of 1 500 m - where else than on Lysá hora, the queen of the Beskid Mountains.
There were a lot of good competitors at the starting line but after a thrilling race, I managed to win before Olda Kokošek.
On Sunday I then set off on another ski mountaineering race. This time it was the Strungami Osnice race in Malá Fatra, Slovakia. I took part in the couples race with my team mate from the Kilpi Racing Teamu, Tomáš Matera.
Beautiful weather and excellent snow conditions attracted a lot of ski mountaineers from Moravia as well as experienced local competitors. The Osnica peak, which offered the nicest technical sections with steep climbing, descents and panoramic views of the peaks of the Slovak mountains was the highlight of the trail.
The organizing team, HK JAMES Dolný Kubín, deserves great praise for having prepared a very nice race.
