Top jacket for demanding conditions. Thanks to the three-layer DERZIMAX membrane is reliably waterproof but at the same time very well breathable. When the intensity of movement is added there are also ventilation holes under the sleeves. They are large enough, but most importantly, you can comfortably open and close them as needed.
The jacket can be used all year round. Thanks to its low weight and good packability into a hood, it is good to have it with you on every trip in case the weather conditions would get worse.
The well-shaped hood can be pulled over the helmet while climbing in the mountains, thus protecting the head and neck from the cold and snow. Ideally it can be combined with the NINJA-U bottom layer. Its balaclava fits under the helmet and together ensure the necessary comfort. At the same time, the hood can be easily pulled off with an elastic band, so even without a helmet it holds nicely on the head. The high collar allows you to hide your neck from bad weather. I have appreciated both the extended back part as well as the upper part of the sleeves in a similar way.
The Kilpi HASTAR-M jacket has a slightly wider cut. So when underwearing the lighter Kilpi PAPILON-M feather jacket or its synthetic sister REBEKI-M, you can spend pleasant moments with it on the slopes. I especially do appreciate the pocket on the left arm for ski passes and the snow belt. Being a skialpinist you would definitely appreciate the insurance in the form of the RECCO safety element. I hope no one will ever need it, but it is better to wear it for sure.
The snow belt can be unbuckled and the jacket will be lighter. It will then become a good partner for the summer serving as a protection against the wind when climbing to the top/ ridge where it would start blowing. Thanks to the durable material you do not have to worry about damage or abrasion when climbing or being on Ferrates.
If adding Kilpi LAZZARO-M membrane pants made of the same material you will create a "bulletproof" set against wind and rain. But I prefer to sacrifice a bit from its waterproofing and I will definitely choose NUUK-M pants which are elastic and breathable – see more details in the review by Ambassador Martina Chrástková. Other Kilpi products that have worked for me in combination with the HASTAR-M jacket are: MERIN-M T-shirt, ASSASIN-M sweatshirt and DRAG-U light gloves. Then nothing will surprise you in nature.
And thanks to its design I often take it to the city and I do not have to deal with an umbrella…
